Hope everyone had a great summer!
As for my writing, I’m at 28k in the first book in the fantasy war series. You can learn a bit more about that series here.
It’s going well, but the multiple points of view keep tripping me up. So far, I struggle with the first 300-500 words in the chapters. Once I’m past those, I’ve readjusted to the new character and get very excited to be writing them. Then, I just want to keep writing about that character. So I struggle to start the next chapter…
It’s an endless cycle, but I’m glad I like all my main characters so much. This is the first time I’ve written with a set structure for POVs. Normally, I write whatever character I think should be next. However, I am enjoying the structure. But it’s an adjustment.
I’ve finally finished the setup for my world. Which is crazy, because normally the setup is the hardest part to write. Rather, I’m a little stuck for what comes after the setup. So my progress has slowed a little. But I plan to keep working on it. I hope to finish the draft this fall, if all goes well.
On another note, Heir of the Elements has been slightly distracting me from my current project.
I was reviewing some feedback I’d received on it, and I think I know what the next draft needs. I have also been watching some Realm Makers sessions I missed and using the advice to strengthen up the story.
This next draft should clean up the biggest issues. I really want to get this book out there, but it’s quite stubborn at times. It’s close. And every draft is one step closer to publication.
All in all, I got some great writing done this month. The plan is to keep picking away on my fantasy war book, but I hope to get a solid plan for Heir of the Elements. I’ll probably be working on both for most of September.
I hope everyone has a great start to the fall season!
Until next time,
