July was a busy month for me. I took two trips, but one was to Realm Makers!
Realm Makers is a writing conference for Christian speculative fiction writers, and it was so much fun. I loved being around so many authors who shared my story passions. And the lectures were full of great writing advice. I’m still sorting through all of the information, but have already started applying some of the techniques. I can tell that it’s making my writing stronger.
At the end of June, I got a Freewrite, which is a writing device for distraction-free writing. I’ve been using it to rewrite my four-book fantasy series. Between my new writing techniques and the device, I’ve been slowly working my way through book one, and I wrote roughly 12,500 words in July.
I am so excited to get this book into readers’ hands. I fell in love with these characters and story over three years ago, and have been waiting for the day I could talk to people about it who’ve been on the journey with me. I’m hoping to have book one redrafted by the end of October, but we’ll see if it works out or not.
As for Heir of the Elements, I have a bit of an intense draft coming up. I need to rework the midpoint, mostly. I also have to rework some character backstory. Additionally, the world-building needs some help. But I am bound and determined to beat this beast! I just hope that it’s sooner rather than later.
That’s all for now! I hope everyone had a great summer.
Until next time,
